Are you scared of algebra? Are all those letters and symbols, buzzing around and driving you crazy?

At Active Algebra you’ll learn to develop your maths detective skills and solve those equations smoothly

Fun Algebra learning through activities, games, puzzles, videos and hands-on activities.

Over the 8 weeks we will be unpicking the skills needed to really understand and enjoy algebra. We’ll examine how algebra can be useful for practical problem solving and enhance understanding of symbols to represent unknown numbers.

There will be many opportunities to ask questions, to think creatively about patterns, graphs and equations.

  • Understand how letters represent unknowns

  • Work with simple formulae

  • Generate and describe linear equations

  • Express missing numbers

  • Work with combinations of variables

  • Challenge yourself to use pairs of numbers in equations with two unknowns

  • Develop confidence to face algebra in action!

Duration

2 hours per week for 8 weeks in Term 2
